Re: [Xylo-SDR] ATLAS Decisions to be made

Lyle

Vector sells the gamut. I think the backplanes start at about $200 for the
sub-chassis. Industrial strength costs industrial prices, and you know
'most' hams! (smile). From my standpoint (alone) I favor 4 ports for
intitial run, if this project survives then go to 6. I'm not designing the
Atlas or the CB but would seem that variants with additional connectors
would be easy to produce and change in the design. We are easily into .75
years before we produce this 'complex' set of dependent boards.

Lots of full towers have 6 slots, one usually dedicated to AGP. Trend is 1/2
height PCI and PCI express. I'll have to go back and check PCI but I think
1/2 PCI is 100 mm.

Just discussin'

$TAPR and $Gerald don't live here!!! (smile) and we need USERS of our
products!

Thanks
Eric

I tend to agree, but I wonder if we're not doing the LVDS bus on the
backplane, why don't we just use an existing backplane designed for
Eurocards?

If we're not going for the Aria case, then what case will the 6-slot
motherboard fit into? Do such cases tend to favor the normal Eurocard
length of 160mm rather than our shortened 100mm length?
