Altera's FPGA's Cyclone II chips are dirt cheap,
something special like a 100 MHz A/D would
require one up close, but $13 qty one is not
unreasonable for a demanding task, and that is
way cheaper than the A/D chip itself. Actually
this would simplify things considerably.

We either have the high speed stuff on the FPGA
board, or plan on having more than one FPGA so we
need to get over it and move on.



I can't see why we shouldn't have an FPGA on the ADC board, it'll look a bit empty, otherwise. 8-)

It could also have the DAC on it for the Tx function.
